Aaron and I do every two years for holidays. So, for Christmas, we will do two years with the Hills, two years with the Deans. This may sound confusing, but Aaron's parents still rotate every year to see their parents. Our family's don't understand, but it's the only way we are able to see everybody. This year was Christmas with the Hills to see my MIL's family.
Christmas Eve fell on a Sunday, and because Aaron is a minister, we couldn't leave for Christmas until Christmas day. We had a plan to wake up at 6, I feed Ollie while Aaron packed our stuff in the car. The ultimate goal is to leave by 8. That planned was foiled because Ollie uncharacteristically woke up at 4. Usually, I just plug him up with a pacifier and he is content. It didn't work so I thought maybe he was hungry. He wasn't hungry so I cleaned out his nostrils... I got Aaron to clean out his nostrils because I am not so great at it and Ollie finally went to bed.
Christmas day was filled with stopping frequently to try to convince the baby to eat, and listening to The Golden Compass. And by "listening to The Golden Compass," I mean constantly asking Aaron what happened in the book because I kept getting distracted. At one point, the cord wasn't in all the way and it sounded like it was whispering. Aaron said it was the heir of Slytherin and was speaking parseltongue
We had great time with family. Ollie was given a lot of cute toys, a lot of love, and a new tooth. The new tooth explains the waking up in the middle of the night and the not eating thing.
We got to sneak out on a date to see Star Wars while the rest of the family babysat Ollie. There was a preview for a new Jurassic Park and Jeff Goldblum said his notorious line "life finds a way." I was a little too excited when I saw that and I feel the rest of the audience would agree with me.
Some people don't see the point of resolutions since most people quit after a couple of months but I love the idea of setting goals. Even if some of them are pretty lofty, isn't failure good because it showed you tried?
So here are my resolutions.
Read 50 books
Write a book
Make a new friend
Memorize 5 piano songs
Try something new every month
Memorize a verse every month
Random act of kindness every month.
See my nieces once a month
