Make Momma Proud

One of my New Years' resolutions is to try something new. So, to complete that for this month, I auditioned for a play in Lamesa. For you non West-Texans, Lamesa is a 45 minute drive, which is nothing around here.

I haven't been in a play since I was in high school. I am not really sure why I never auditioned when I was in college. I think the main reason I didn't is because it is scary to put yourself out there. I came from a small school where I grew up with everyone I graduated with. I was involved in everything (but sports). When I got to college, I had to relearn who I was. Another reason (and a really one) is that I had to work.

All that being said, after we saw the Nutcracker, I was inspired and promised myself to audition for the next play Lamesa was putting on.

The audition was held on Monday and Tuesday.

On Sunday, Ollie had the stomach bug, and on Monday, I caught it. When in doubt, even if I don't know about the audition until the day of, I will be sick. I was pretty much better by the afternoon, just weak, but I was determined to go. I knew I would chicken out if I didn't.

I am the kind of person that likes to get things over with. When I eat my food, I will eat the vegetables first. When I have something I don't want to do, I just do it as soon as I can. Total opposite of my husband.

My sickness (no fever, I'm not a monster) may have helped me because I have been cast as Ruth Condomine, a snobby socialite..

Here is the Wikipedia synopsis of the play:

This is my way of announcing, because I don't know how to bring it up in normal conversations.
I feel a little like Stuart.
