Pregnancy #2 Posing Like a Pregnant Sorority Girl

Well, I have had several people wanting me to blog about my pregnancy and so here is everything you'd want (and more than you'd want, probably).

Finding out (May 26)

We've been trying since Ollie's second birthday to have another baby so we knew very early on (three weeks and five days) that we were pregnant. One thing to know about me is that I am very good at keeping secrets from every other person except Aaron. I tell Aaron everything. Even if I try, I just don't have the ability.

I was planning on waiting until Aaron came home, but.. I lasted maybe fifteen minutes.

He was getting groceries and I called him to ask him to get a pregnancy test. I already took one, but I wanted confirmation. What I didn't know, was he was talking to church members and so he couldn't respond appropriately. I just assumed it didn't quite register with him.

You're supposed to wait three minutes before you actually check the test, but I don't operate that way. I sit and stare the whole time. Similarly to when I found out I was pregnant with Ollie, the line was almost too faint to see. It was there, though.

We were both a mixture of excitement and disbelief.

I went cold turkey with caffeine. It was bad, do not recommend. That was the worst I felt throughout my pregnancy (thus far).

First Trimester

I'm not a superstitious person at all, except when it comes to pregnancy. I do not take risks at all. Even if my doctor says it's okay to do something, but I heard another doctor somewhere else say not to do it, I will not do it. We wanted to wait until our first ultrasound before telling family, but that wouldn't be for another month and a half, so we just waited until the next week.

We sent this to the grandparents (and bonus grandparents) and immediately we were receiving phone calls.

Morning sickness was a little worse with this one than with Ollie. I only threw-up two or three times but I got nauseous a lot easier. Things that made me nauseous included taking vitamins before eating, being hungry, strong smells, and chocolate. Y'all, this little girl won't let me eat chocolate. I remember with one of Ollie's baking videos, we were baking someone brownies. Just the smell of it made me ill the rest of the day.

I was also way more tired with this one. I would sleep twelve hours a day and have no motivation to do anything.

By eleven weeks, I was finally starting to feel back to normal.

Second Trimester

We opted not to do a blood test to find out the gender, so we had to wait until an ultra sound to find out. Most of the old wives tales predicted the baby is a girl.

Cravings: salty (boy)
Morning sickness: yes (girl)
Sleeping on: right side (girl)
Mom's complexion: breakouts (girl)*
Foot size: same (girl)
Heartbeat: 140+ (girl)
Headaches: yes (boy)
Emotions: moody (girl)
Ring test: circle (girl)
Chinese gender chart: girl

My doctor offered a free ultrasound to find out the gender, and the baby was not willing to expose herself, thank you very much. So, we tried again the next day. Same thing. We tried a week later. They told me to drink some caffeine before I came. So, I got some pumpkin spice latte and she was finally turned the right way. Ollie's Amarillo grandma even got me a mug that says "pumpkin spice latte" on it to celebrate.

Very grateful for Harper's bashfulness. We get a lot of pictures out of the deal.

So, we set local trees on fire to announce the gender. I mean, we used a pumpkin to reveal it on facebook. I was prepared for a boy. I've had one for over three years, so a girl is brand new territory. Are there classes for doing little girl's hair?

Aaron's going to start painting the nursery this week so I can go on decorating. I am already excited to show y'all what we are going to be doing. No gender neutral nurseries for us!

Right now, from head to toe, the baby is 10 inches long (the size of an axolotl). I am halfway through and went out of my comfort zone to post a baby bump picture. I was missing not having pictures of my bump with Ollie. I even researched poses on Pinterest because I don't know how to stand like a normal person.

Aaron asked why I was posing like a pregnant sorority girl.**

Right now, I'm in the stage of my pregnancy where I am just hungry all the time. Also, I still can't do chocolate and pork gives me heartburn.

*One pimple has stayed with me the entire pregnancy.
** I deleted this one, but Aaron made me post it so people understand the context of his comment. He wants you to know he is not usually that catty.
