Ultimate Summer Week 1: zoo

I loved having a weekly theme last summer, so of course I had to do it again! I’m going to follow a similar formula: make it Monday, take-a-trip Tuesday, water Wednesday, thinking Thursday.

Monday

We’re zoo people. If we are traveling to a city that has a zoo, that’s where we are going. We definitely take advantage of living in a city with a zoo. Since Aaron had Monday off, we made it our field trip day.

The zoo’s new bear was so active! And Ollie was really into the story the library posted around the zoo. He even guessed correctly what “symbiotic relationship” means after we read it.

Tuesday

Grandmommy came up to watch Ollie so we could take Harper to get an ultrasound on her lymph nodes. We filled our day with the park and Gattiland, where Ollie got really lucky on a game and got 250 tickets.

The kids painted a lion by using a clothespin and Pom-Pom to stamp on the paper. I have to get a little creative because Ollie doesn’t have very much interest in painting. Harper really enjoyed feeling the texture of the Pom-poms.

Wednesday

It rained on “Water-Wednesday” so we just enjoyed that. Ollie was very excited his umbrella did as advertised and protected him from the rain.

We took all of Ollie’s “stuffies” and made a zoo. I let Ollie run it, so the animals didn’t get any barricades and they were all fed fish and raisins. Harper was in absolute heaven. She went around hugging all the stuffies and said “awww.”

Friday

We didn’t do anything for “thinking Thursday.” We did go to a birthday party for a little girl that was in his Mother’s Day Out on Friday. I told Ollie to tell the little girl “happy birthday” and to thank her for inviting him and he had no idea who she was. 9 months with just 10 kids in his class and no idea. It’s clear he has absolutely no interest in girls at the moment.

We are still doing “baking with Ollie videos” but we are also using it to donate money to St. Jude. Every week they give a theme and this week was cookies. I also wanted to incorporate a zoo theme (your girl loves themes) so we made “chunky monkey cookies.” They are delicious. Too delicious. I have to make them disappear in a way that doesn’t involve my stomach.

I currently have no idea what I’m doing this next week so it’s going to be a surprise for everyone.
