Roll For Project take 2

Last blog post, I shared how I started a new system inspired by Tiktok. I make a list of projects (boring and exciting) I need to get done around the house, roll the dice, and do the project the dice tell me to do. Here is part two:

 1.Laundry tray

This is incredibly exciting. Our washer tends to leak, so we put a tray under it. As a result, I was finally able to put carpet in our closet which shares a wall with our laundry.

Last year, I salvaged my mom and aunt’s flooring and put it in my living room and hallways, so I had a roll of carpet hanging out in my room until I could put it to good use. Ollie preferred the carpet, because this new flooring is “too slippery.”

2. Kitchen Backsplash

My kitchen has been through a lot… and I’m still changing it.

When we bought our house, the tile was yellow and I painted it white. Then I put subway tile up.

I decided to change it again to bead-board.

This was incredibly easy to do and affordable. I had some leftover bead-board from when I made over my master bathroom, so I just had to get two more panels. I painted, put a top-coat, and trim all around it. I absolutely love it and Aaron agrees it reflects my style even more than the subway tile (for the moment).

When I’m done with all the projects in the kitchen, I’ll post a picture showing the whole kitchen.

8. Caulking

Again, this isn’t incredibly exciting, but that’s why I do this whole “roll for project” thing. Boring stuff has to get done, too.

9. Fireplace

I always thought a fireplace would be so cozy in my bedroom. Something like this:

How’d I do?

Now, this may not look like a fireplace because it isn’t. We decided a second dresser was more needed.

I found this while thrifting for $20. I wanted it to match my other dresser, so I spray painted it “antique white” by Ace and painted the top using the same paint I used to paint an accent wall in my room. (Weather Vane by Valspar)

I also found these darling pulls on eBay.

They go so well with the knobs on my wardrobe.

They really look like they could be a set.

10. Laundry doors

I made over my laundry area an almost two years ago. I still am really proud of how that turned out; however, the doors were way too heavy.

I really wanted to make the doors really look like they were just a wall, or a “jib door.”

I eventually landed on these, which seemed a little easier to make.

I followed this tutorial  to make a hollow door. Tried shopping for non-floral wallpaper because my house is covered in florals.  I failed and bought this  from Amazon:

I color-matched it at the Home Depot in a high glossy paint.

To accessorize, I found vintage animal portraits from two different shops…

“Gentleman Duck”

“Aristocratic Dog”

… and these handles from Hobby Lobby.

Here’s the result:

Oh y’all, I just love it!

This was exactly my vision and I love it! Look how their outfits match the piano!

This “roll for projects” has been such a great tool for me to get things done around the house. Boring, or not.
