I put up a lot of decorations, but my house has Christmas boxes everywhere because we didnt have the big kahoona of a tree up yet. That's my other excuse for my lack of work ethic this week.
This weekend we took care of it
Friday
We had an easy morning. Aaron has Fridays off and started actually taking them once Oliver was born. He packed our bags while I took care of the boy.. and watched Teen Mom 2. I have nothing to say with that. It's my guilty pleasure, and I'm just being honest.
We went to the mall in Lubbock to find Ollie a Christmas outfit (which was harder than you'd think) to take a picture with Santa. Surprisingly, there wasn't a line to see Santa and he was quite jolly. I had to stand behind the photographer so Oliver would look in the general direction of the camera. Santa was very impressed with Oliver's behavior. He says his beard had been pulled several times in addition to be scratched and poked.
We also went to Home Depot to get some decorations. I want to put wreaths on the outside windows so we got some magnets and lights. Aaron had to use the restroom so I said I would be in the garden section. While I was looking at poinsettias, a 10 year-old girl was coming into the room with her grandfather. She hit her ankle on the door and started limping, except she didn't really get the concept of limping. She was doing some form of skipping, putting an emphasis on one leg and then would switch the other leg, all while saying, "I'm okay! I'm okay!"
Did I mention I didn't have my phone? I gave up on waiting for Aaron in the garden section and went to wait for him by the restrooms. Five minutes later I hear my name from not the restroom. He went to the garden section to look for me and saw the girl who should not pursue acting along the way. Somehow we missed each other.
Saturday
We went to the Christmas Tree Farm in Post. Ollie decided that he didn't want to eat today and I decided he would, so we have been battling that out all day. I've been winning but it hasn't been fun. We got to the farm 20 min before it opened, and Ollie was due to eat again. After him eating an acceptable amount for a baby that was two days old, we went to look for a tree.
Me being the frugal girl I am, I wanted to take pictures myself for our Christmas card. Aaron, having the opposite problem of someone with ADHD gets super focused and wanted to do nothing but look for a tree. So, I managed to get him to take one picture of me. The man has many talents, photography is not one of them. I get him to hold the baby while we are looking and I take candid (while I direct poses) pictures.
After Aaron paid for the tree, and while I am convincing the baby he needs to eat more than a thimble, I ask Aaron to send me the picture.

My eyes are closed. I have these beautiful moments of Aaron and his son. The one picture of me is of my eyes being closed. My response to this news is that of a good Christian woman filled with grace and love.
Listen, I admitted to the Teen Mom thing, I can admit that I responded as if I were a teen mom. I hate how I respond to the things that don't really matter. Instead of brushing it off, I sob that I'm trying to create memories! Do you have those moments where you are responding in your head to what you are doing at the moment? Like, in the moment I was throwing a tantrum, but in my head I was rolling my eyes at this person throwing a tantrum.
I'm very grateful for my husband and his patience and his understanding. Lord knows he needs it when it comes to being married to my irrational self.
P.S. Every time Aaron takes a photo on his phone, he accidentally does it live (where the pictures move) so I was able to get a "good enough" one for our cards.

I love y’all more than a fat man loves cake, but I had some good laughs at your expense while reading this. Consider my Christmas present taken care of! The sentence about Aaron’s opposite of ADHD behavior alone was gift enough for me LOLOLOL.
