This past weekend, Aaron, Ollie and I had a mini-weekend getaway. Friday, we went to Just Between Friends, which is a giant children consignment sale. We got there on the last day, so everything was picked over.
So, is it worth it to make your own food?
All for the low price of.... I wasn't paying attention |
The only book I read so far was The Legend of the Easter Egg. I would recommend it. It connects chicks hatching from eggs to Jesus' resurrection.
Much to Aaron's chagrin, we also went to every thrift store in town to find 1940's style shoes for the play I'm in. I would post a picture, but they are in my car and if I take them out, I won't remember to bring them to practice. All my shoes cost three dollars. I was super excited about that... and Aaron was super excited not to be thrift store shopping anymore. (Singing Macklemore's Thrift Shop didn't help anything...)
I made a Facebook status asking people's opinions on making their own baby food, and I got an amazing response all supporting it.
I bought a Magic Bullet at Walmart, extra small ziploc containers, and some bananas, avocados, and a bag of spinach. I already had a frozen veggie mix at home

2 containers have already been eaten and part of the avocado. |
The spinach was too stringy, so I added the juice to the vegetable mix. The avocado was surprisingly difficult to mix in the Magic Bullet, so I added some breast milk in a separate bowl and it was a lot easier to mix.
Trust me, you don't want this guacamole. |
Absolutely! Buying premade food costs on average four times as much as making it. I have almost paid for the Magic Bullet just with this amount of food.
