Busting Out and Smooches
We've been stuck inside all week because Ollie had the flu/ pink eye/ and an ear infection. We've had to miss a lot of things: tumbling/music class, bible study, church, and daddy/son day but neither of us have gotten cabin fever. Because I can't resist giving my son smooches, and also because he cries when you resist his smooches, I am typing this with one eye working because the other one now has pink eye.
While editing this, Aaron reminded me of when Ollie and I were giving each other butterfly kisses and he said, "Hey, you might not want to do that, that's how you end up with pink eye."
All that to say, this is a very short blog.
Here are two stories from a couple weeks ago.
Escape
Aaron was playing video games in our room and I was either watching a home makeover or doing puzzles on my phone when I hear a loud bang. We have a doggy door that both our cat and dog use, and sometimes they use it with gusto, so that's initially what I thought it was. I then heard the noise again. I did my wifely duty and had Aaron go check it out. He just assumed we didn't close the screen door.
Ollie somehow managed to get out of his room. His door has a child-safety knob, so I must not have closed it all the way. Instead of coming to our room, which is what he normally would do, he took his pajama-clad self and blanket outside (backyard) and said "hi daddy!" when confronted like this was where he was supposed to be all along.
Parachute
We were at Ollie's class at the local college that is half music half free play tumbling. Ollie is the only boy in a room full of girls. His teacher got the little parachute out and she was going back to play the music. Ollie grabbed the parachute and lifted up the parachute as high as it would go and said "UP!" and then brought the parachute all the way to the ground and said "DOWN!" Everyone was following his directions, including the parents. I guess he was saying it confidently enough that no one could resist. It was then time for the kids to go under the parachute. Ollie was having a good time watching the movement of the parachute when an 18 month old kept walking over to him and trying to kiss him. Well, he was having none of it. He was busy with the parachute and was not to be distracted by a younger woman. He finally said, "Stop it!"
