Ride Along with Me

A sweet lady at our church asked Ollie if he saw Daniel Tiger this weekend and Ollie responded by saying he went pee pee on the potty. No, he didn't actually answer her question, but at least he didn't just stare at her blankly.

We traveled to Midland so Ollie could go to his first concert, Daniel Tiger, and you know, also grandparents. We made a short detour to Levelland* because Aaron is part of the Singing Men of the Panhandle and they were combining with the Singing Men of West Texas to do a concert at First Baptist. The Singing Men is a group of Baptist ministers who meet once a month at different churches to hold a concert. It's called a concert, but really it's a worship service.

Ollie and I snuck off while the men were rehearsing to get coffee.** Of course, I got distracted by a really good sale at Bealls and bought some cute booties and Ollie flirted his way to getting a cookie from the sales lady. This is not the first time he's charmed his way into getting sweets from strangers. One time a group of girls at Chili's brought Ollie cake. Is this really what life is like for you pretty people?

I was so exhausted after the concert. I was up late the night before packing and then Ollie decided to wake up early because he desperately needed to use the potty and then refused to leave the potty no matter how much pleading I did.

We made a blanket pallet for Ollie in our room at Aaron's parent's house, but then he wanted to sleep with us when we got in there and then imitated a fish out of water, so we didn't get much sleep for another night.

If you don't know, Aaron is the absolute best and let me sleep in the next morning. What a hunk.

Ollie didn't nap very long the afternoon of the Daniel Tiger concert. He also didn't nap very long the day before with our traveling, and he didn't sleep much the last couple of days so I was really thinking this was going to be a fun experience for everyone around us.

Miracle of miracles, Ollie fell asleep in the car and slept through dinner, so after a power nap and a pile of m&ms later, he was ready. He actually did great at the concert!

I’m not even going to remotely pretend I didn’t love this

Ollie mainly sat on my lap and just stared with an open mouth. He kept singing the theme song and would say "ding! ding!" every time he saw the trolly.

Grandmommy and granddaddy joined us half way through because grandmommy was coming in from a conference in Austin. The last fifteen minutes, Ollie repeatedly put stuffed Daniel in a seat and then climbed up himself and they both were eaten by the seats.

This picture is very deceptive as there were a ton of excited tots there.

As grandmommy (Aaron's mom) noticed, there were a lot of grandparents because they are the ones more willing to shell out the money.

Ollie thought grandmommy was hilarious on the way back to the house as they were fake sneezing at each other. He had a great time, even though all he remembers is going pee pee in the potty.

*Don't you love these West Texas names for towns that just describe the land around? Ex: Brownfield, Plains, Plainview, Canyon...
**Because someone will ask, no Ollie does not drink coffee.
