Upstaged

After a month of having nothing to blog about, I’m back.

Being married to a minister, my unofficial-official title is the substitute. This week I was the pianist.

Ollie, of course refused to sit with anyone else but me today. So, I had Ollie sit behind me. He had different activity books and we had a talk about how he should behave while I play the piano.

First song went fine. He was busy playing with the strings on his tote bag. Second song, he stood up, but he was still playing with his tote bag. Third song, Ollie decided he needed his book to go into his tote bag and he needed my help.

So while playing “All My Hope” by Crowder, I had a book insistently shoved in my face. I managed to keep playing with my right hand while my left hand took the book from him and put it on the piano.

Well, he didn’t want the book on the piano. He wanted the book in the tote bag. And I honestly don’t remember if I handed him the book or if he got it, but somehow I got the book in my face again.

This continued on until the last song. Thankfully one of our choir members came down to assist. I may have played that hymn in cut time.

You can see me in the background of the children’s sermon as I try to get Ollie off the stage while he is very much interested in the headphones, thank you very much.

Oh my Ollie, you sure keep things interesting.
