I came up with the solution to find either a small shoe rack or end table.
I found this at Goodwill for $10 and knew it would be perfect. It’s got great storage for little feet, but doesn’t take up a lot of room.
My little thrifty heart is really happy, because the only things I spent full price on was the chalk paint and trim.
I have been wanting to do some project with cane for a while and was so excited to see the placemat which I thought was really close (especially being 50 cents). While I was at Hobby Lobby getting paint, I found the knob on clearance for 99 cents.
This was the inspiration I took off Pinterest:
It was really easy to sand. I just had to deal with wood glue, but it wasn’t hard to peel off.
I primed one coat, and painted three coats.
I cut the placemat to size and used spray glue and it stuck so quickly. And glued/ nailed the trim in place.
I love how it turned out! The “fake cane” reminds me of tweed and I honestly just need to find an outfit that matches it.
If all my furniture was under some secret curse but then turned back into people, this is who my end table would turn into.
